Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1968 to support complementary courses of various UG and Pre-Degree programmes. UG course in Industrial Chemistry was started in 2001. The UG course in Industrial Chemistry was later rechristened as B.Sc. Chemistry during the academic year 2005-2006.

  • Facilities


    1. Well equipped spacious laboratory

    2. Department library with approximately 100 books sponsored by Alumni

    The department has three well furnished class rooms, and a staff room. Both LCD and OHP projector are there in the department. In addition to these, department has a well equipped spacious laboratory which consists of a balance room, fume hood, stock room and preparation room and a main experimental laboratory. We have modern instruments like refractometer, PH Meter, Potentiometer, Conductivity cell, Viscometer, Water distilling unit, Distilling set, Soxhlet apparatus, Electric Bunsen, Electric hot plate , Heating mantle, Suction pump, two digit (2) and four digit electronic balances (3) etc . We also have a computer with internet connection and printer in the department.

    In the department library there are 73 books which is available to students through book bank scheme. In the general library our department has 1165 books on various branches of chemistry, 10 journals and two periodicals.
