The National Seminar “Recent Advances in Chemistry” organized by the department of Chemistry was inaugurated by Dr. K. George Thomas, the Professor and Dean, Academics and Faculty Affairs, IISER, Trivandrum. Dr. K. George Thomas, the Professor and Dean, Academics and Faculty Affairs, IISER, Trivandrum delivered a talk on “Photo Chemistry”. Dr. S. Sugunan,   Emirates’ Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, delivered a talk on Molecular Spectroscopy. Dr P. A. Joy, Senior Principal Scientist, Physical Science Division, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune delivered a talk on “Introduction to Nano Materials”. Dr. P. Raveendran, Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Calicut delivered a talk on “Green Chemistry”. Dr.  Pradeepan Periyat,Assistant Professor,Department of Chemistry, University of Calicut gave a talk on “Technological Applications of Nano Materials”.

Department of Geology National Seminar on 19-21 March 2014 “Lakes, Rivers and Wetland Ecosystem -A climate Change Perspective”

The National Seminar on Lakes, Rivers and Wetland Ecosystem -A climate Change Perspective was a rendezvous of those researchers and academicians working on cutting edge areas of Lakes, Rivers and Wetland ecosystems. Further, this seminar   provided an excellent opportunity to invoice practitioners who wanted to enhance their knowledge and interchange their ideas regarding environmental degradation particularly due to climate change and also on the environmental sustainability and management of these ecosystems. The focal theme selected for the conference was "Climate Change, Lake, River and Wetland Ecosystems and sustainability", which focus on the implication of climate change on these ecosystems. This seminar discussed the strategies for ecosystem conservation in the context of climate change and forwarded recommendations towards sustainable management of these ecosystems.

Department of Physics National Seminar on 9th and 10th October 2013 “PHOTONICS-FOUNDATIONS AND FRONTIERS”

P.G. Department of Physics conducted a two day national seminar entitled “PHOTONICS-FOUNDATIONS AND FRONTIERS” on 9th & 10th October 2013.The seminar was organized in collaboration with Photonic Society of India-Cusat, with the co-sponsorship of U.G.C- New Delhi, Ministry of Science and Technology (SERB)-Govt. of India and KSCSTE-Kerala. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. M. Abdul Salam, Hon. Vice Chancellor, and University of Calicut. The seminar provided a platform for sharing the views and experience of experts of international reputation in this area among the students and teachers of various UG and PG colleges in and around Ponnani. The papers focused on the evolution of photonics as a separate discipline and its growth till this date by shedding light into latest trends with special emphasis on photonic devices and material research. Prof. V.P.N Namboothiri, CSIR Professor Emeritus, CUSAT –delivered a talk on “Growth and Evolution of Photonics”. Dr. C.P. Girija Vallabhan, Founder Director, International School of Photonics, CUSAT gave a talk on “Unlimited, Clean and Safe Energy for the future: A Progress Report on Laser Fusion”. Dr. Rajesh Anto, HOD, Department of Vascular Surgery, Daya General Hospital, Thrissur shared his deliberations on “Implication of Photonics in Medical Science”. Dr. K. Chandrasekharan, Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Calicut, discussed the topic “Non Linear Optical Materials for Photonic Applications.” Dr. Reji Philip, Raman Research Institute, Bangalore delivered a talk on “Intense Light- Matter, Interaction.” Dr. T. N. Narayanan, Scientist, shared his reflections on “Emerging 2D Nano Materials for Opto Electronics and Bio Photonics”

 National Seminar on   “A Practical approach to Responsible tourism” was conducted by Department of Commerce. The national seminar was inaugurated by Sri. E.T. Mohammed Basheer M.P. Mr. Cherian Philip, Chairman KTDC delivered the key note address. Dr. B. Viyayakumar, Principal, Kerala Institute of Travel and Tourism Studies Trivandrum, Dr. M.B Gopalakrishanan faculty member Marthoma College Chungathara, Mr. Suroop Roy Programme coordinator, Equations Bangalore presented the topic Responsible Tourism- Challenges and Operational   Issues.
